Pentagram launched their fourth studio album Bloodywood (stream clips from the album) on Tuesday, Mar 23 at Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai. The gig kicked off the Jim Beam-sponsored Bloodywood Tour (dates) which sees the band travel to five cities over the next few weeks.
The band performed on the Alice Cooper stage (HRC Mumbai’s non-#fail stage) with one of the biggest light setups we’ve seen at the venue. Starting at a leisurely 10.45pm, the band performed almost the entirety of Bloodywood with a few tracks from Up and It’s OK, It’s All Good thrown in at the end. The Lower Parel venue was packed with hometown fans of the band, many familiar with songs like ‘Mental Zero’ and ‘In My Head’, which have been live set regulars for some time now.
Frontman Vishal Dadlani introduced most of the songs on the album, stating that “Bloodywood is about our friends and this city.” The vocalist looked uncharacteristically fatigued; a full, set-length soundcheck the likely cause of his weariness. Still, the show featured the same, high-energy freneticism that is now a hallmark of Pentagram live performances. For a full gallery of photographs, check out the NH7 Facebook page.
