Prachir – ‘Porichoy’
Talk about being international. Bangla rock band Prachir have written a song aimed at and addressing the drug problems of naive American teenagers. These problems are quite simplistically and explicitly introduced at the beginning of the video (“He said he would love me forever if I smoke crack with him”). The actual coke-snorting demo is performed by a ponytailed local youth, using a 100 rupee note no less – before he wanders the city streets and fades into live footage of the band. ‘Porichoy’ plays safe and employs efficient stickage-to-rock-formula: universal social message + standard guitar solos + liberal amounts of cheese.

The Bicycle Days – ‘Radio Song’
With light-vortexes spinning behind them, vintage TV sets and unspooling tape, lego bits and 8-bit smileys emanating in heartbeat-spaced bursts from vocalist Karthik Basker’s abdomen, this live video shot at Bangalore’s newest venue CounterCulture showcases The Bicycle Days‘ new song ‘Radio Song’ and captures everything we already love about the band. With this 7-minute long perfervid buildup, as always, they succeed in creating an atmosphere completely from scratch.

Blakc – ‘Fall’
Mumbai alt rock/grunge band Blakc has a video out for ‘Fall’, shot alternately in the MacBook webcam “glow” mode and infrared, and featuring live footage of the band. The video is a glimpse into the band’s personal lives, an inside joke in parts – with a timelapse of classic sleepover activities like drawing mustaches on sleeping friends. If you can see past the unbelievable agony of the imitation-sandpapered vocals, it could make for a decent listen.
