British Tamilian songstress Susheela Raman recently released her new studio album Vel. The album is the follow up to 33 1/3, a covers album released in 2007. Vel features the single ‘Raise Up’, which was made available on Indiecision as a free download.
The video for ‘Raise Up’ was shot while the Mercury Prize-nominated artist was on tour in the country recently as part of The Dewarists Stage. The tour saw her collaborate with Rajasthani folk musicians, and included a stop at our very own festival, the Bacardi NH7 Weekender. The video was shot at a detour in Pondicherry. Directed by Shaaze Merchant, it reflects the intensity of the song with Raman, cohort Sam Mills and Rajasthani folk musicians including Kutle Khan performing the track around a bonfire.
