New Delhi alternative rock act Them Clones have been characteristically dormant for the past few months, in fact, post the album launch tour of their debut album Love. Hate. Heroes. With sporadic gigs every few months, the band seemed content in this semi-comatose state. Now, the quintet from the capital have risen with news of two upcoming songs.
The band has been in studio with producer Miti Adhikari (who also produced The Supersonics‘ Maby Baking) recording two new singles – ‘Jealousy’ and ‘All About A Heartbreak’. Recording at guitarist Gucci Singh’s own Headroom Studios in New Delhi, the band claims the songs are a departure from the Clones’ riff-heavy sound. Bassist Clarence Gonsalves told The Telegraph
The sound is more contemporary, instead of the riff-based material the Clones have done so far, which drew from the Nineties. In terms of content, look at the song names. The audience we are targeting is between Class XII and final year in college. We are writing songs about what’s going on in their lives.
Now that the band’s TG is set, one can only hope that the band’s more “contemporary” sound is not RATM.
