Skazi, Shpongle To Play ‘India’s College Festival’

Israeli duo Skazi and UK-based Shpongle will return to Goa after a very short break to play a “youth cultural festival” organized by Channel [V]. Check inside for the full lineup and details about a sand castle workshop.

If you’ve got the post-Sunburn blues, or post-Sunburn sunburns for that matter, it may be time to slather on that sunscreen and head back to Goa. Channel [V] has announced Indiafest, a nationwide inter-college festival that will feature sets by psytrance heavyweights Skazi and Shpongle. Scheduled to be held February 4-5 at Cavelossim Beach in Goa, the lineup with also feature New Delhi electronica act Jalebee Cartel, Bollywood crooner Mohit Chauhan and indie rock dinosaurs Indus Creed. A strange addition to the bill comes in the form of Los Angeles indie rock outfit The Rescues, mentioned twice on the lineup page. Their relative obscurity confused us at first, but their Wikipedia page has labeled them an “Indie Supergroup”, so that makes sense then.

Both Skazi and Shpongle played the country as recently as last month. The Israeli duo played a New Year’s Eve gig in Goa, and Simon Posford took his Shpongle DJ sets to five cities as we had previously reported. For those not interested in the music, other #kvlt activities like street magic, unicycling and sand castle workshops are on the cards. Check out the bewildering promo for the festival here.
