On Friday, December 10, newbie hip hop/reggae band Bombay Bassment from Mumbai and psychedelic/alternative Bangalore band The Bicycle Days played Hard Rock Cafe, Pune at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender. Bombay Bassment, our stage slot contest winners, pulled in a small crowd, of mostly journalists and photographers, but soon had everyone swaying and mini-dancing. “We’re womanizers. All of our tracks are about women.” Affable frontman Fifty Bob introduced each song and each band member, and emceed his way through a set of tracks, resting on heavily hooking basslines.
They were followed by The Bicycle Days, who were pretty awesome. Resounding reverberating vocals over psychedelic soundscapes, crazy inventive yet simplistic guitarwork laced with long delay and harmonics, and incredible intensity. We would go as far as saying that this band is the best new act we’ve seen live this year.
