As random as that headline is, it’s true. Once Britpop giants Ocean Colour Scene will play Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai at the end of the month. The band, whose seminal albums Moseley Shoals and Marchin’ Already are on the iPods of any self-respecting Britpop fan, released their ninth studio album Saturday earlier this year.
Ocean Colour Scene broke through the Britpop scene in the shadow of bands like Oasis, but in the mid-late-’90s comfortably stood their own ground among their contemporaries. While their recent work, like many Britpop bands, is pretty unremarkable, songs like ‘The Day We Caught The Train’, ‘Hundred Mile High City’ and ‘Better Day’ are 100% Britpop gems.
Ocean Colour Scene will play Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai on Wednesday, March 31. The band is playing a worldwide HRC tour this month, and we’ll have details of more dates, if any, soon. In the meanwhile, here’s the band playing the first single from Saturday, ‘Magic Carpet Days’.
