Pune
Date: February 4, 2010
Venue: Hard Rock Cafe
(This diary was written by Rohan Ganguli and Nitin Mani of The Supersonics)

Time to go To Pune for the second gig of the tour. Rohan, Ananda, Vivek and Varun went in one car and the rest of us went in another. The drive was incredible. One car was called the Doobie Brothers car and the other was called the Righteous Brothers car. You can guess why really. We’re not talking about cigarettes here.

We were shacking in Pradeep’s place this time. We were made to feel so welcome. Its like we never left home in the first place. The Pune Hard Rock Café has an interesting design. Like an incomplete pyramid. Why though no one knows. But it is interesting.

We had issues with sound. The place is crazy. And so were the people at the mixers. It was quite an adventure playing there.

The Mavyns started first. They played an interesting set. The sound did inhibit progress but they more than made up for it. They only seemed to get better than the last time. Pradeep has this helicopter type rhythm playing style, which is quite cool. You have to see it to believe it.

The audience included a pilot from the air force. He flies a Sukhoi if anyone is interested to know. Incidentally Varun is also a pilot. Very cool bunch of high fliers we had that evening.

We got on second and played an unusual set. But it was fun though the sound was absolute rubbish. Both bands complained. But what’s the point? No one is listening. Neither to the sound issues nor to the music. Sometimes it’s like that.

We went to Pradeep’s place after the gig and got drunk there. Surprise again!

Heavy conversations followed. We spoke about everything we wanted and sometimes about things we didn’t want. But that’s perfectly fine. The conversations lasted till break of daylight when we decided we must sleep. And so we did. Woke up and had a nice meal. Thank you Pradeep and to your amazing family.

We got ready and headed to the airport to find out the flight was delayed. Part and parcel of the deal. We managed to get back to where we once belonged and got some much needed sleep.

The tour isn’t over. Its only half way and there is more madness to follow. We shall keep you updated to the best that we can. Hope you join us in the next leg of the tour to know first hand about what a great time we’re all having. We would only be happier if you could be there too.

Come for the gigs at Hyderabad and Kolkata if you’re there.

Till then. Same bat time and same bat channel…
