News channels often brag about the fact that their reports have led the authorities to address a situation by branding the follow-up story “XXX Impact”. We’re not quite sure this falls into the same category, but our review of their gig at Blue Frog last month led Shkabang to do-over the video for their song ‘Crazy’. We complained how the original edit reduced the rest of the group to little more than a supporting cast, with the camera focussed mainly on frontwoman Anushka Manchanda.

Indiecision impact: The new version corrects this by featuring plenty of shots of drummer (and video director) Shiraz Bhattacharya, bassist Johan Pais, keyboard player Abhijit Nalani, and guitarist Pozy Dhar, most often with Manchanda popping up in the background to mock-annoy them. It’s a slick-looking clip, if a tad unimaginative. There are some “artsy” shots of Manchanda tied to a chair, the “bondage-chic” seeming inspired by Rihanna’s video for ‘Disturbia’. Musically, ‘Crazy’ is mindless three-minute dance-pop, sounding vaguely as if ‘Jawani Janeman’ had been recently remade in English by Flo-Rida producer Dr Luke.
