Skid RowAs a rock music lover in the country, you can only have one of the following two responses to reading that headline – “Fuck yeah!”, or “WTF?”. American classic rock act Skid Row will perform at IIT Kharagpur’s annual cultural festival SpringFest in January 2010. The Jnan Ghosh Stadium in Kharagpur will play host to the multi-platinum selling glam quintet from New Jersey on Jan 23.

IIT Kharagpur’s announcement is the second big IIT festival score after IIT Mumbai’s catch of British prog rock act Porcupine Tree for their festival Mood Indigo. Incidentally, after scoring Swedish metal act Opeth for the ’09 edition of their festival Saarang, the biggest act at the 2010 instalment of IIT Madras’ fest (announced yet) is Bollywood producer trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy.

Here’s how the kids over at IIT Kharagpur are selling the Skid Row gig.

HIGHLIGHTS:
1. Expected audience at Spring Fest is 30,000.
2. First performance in India and is expected to be a huge success.
3. Their song “Youth Gone Wild” is featured in the popular game “Guitar Hero”.
4. A multi-platinum act that has performed with rock behemoths including Guns N’ Roses, KISS, Def Leppard and Aerosmith to name a few.

As with the headline, you either think #win, or #fail. Somebody tell someone at IIT Roorkee/Kanpur that Laura Marling’s on tour right now. Wait, don’t. Here’s ‘Youth Gone Wild’.

UPDATE: Tickets are available at Rs 500 a pop on Bookmyshow.
