Cusp were an alt-grunge three-piece from Mumbai. They were around in the late ’90s and were one of the earliest Mumbai acts to perform their own material at gigs. The project of Saumitra Mathur (vocals, guitar) (also the man behind the art on Zero’s album Hook), Nilesh Zacharias (vocals, bass) and Anit Gvalani (drums), Cusp broke up in 2000 leaving a hole in the Mumbai rock scene filled in, to a large extent extent, by Zero.
A whole bunch (thirteen to be precise) of Cusp demos recorded during the time they were around have now surfaced on the internet. While some of these were available on Cusp’s uber-kvlt, web 1.0 website, they’ve now been given the Bandcamp treatment, along with the art you see pictured left.
The songs include ‘Parasite’ which was featured in one of the earliest GIR compilation albums.
