Yahoo!’s yodel marketing campaign saw them set up pop up recording studios all over the world, including Mumbai, getting the aam aadmi off the street to record his own version of the yodel. Each studio had ‘celebrity mentors’ and in Mumbai, these were electro-rock act Shaa’ir + Func. Yahoo! shot a short film with S+F, finding out the way the work and their influences, soundtracked to new material from their coming third studio album.
It’s a fun watch and songs like ‘Goodbye Cruel World’ and the lavani-inspired ‘My Roots’ get good airtime. If you need more reason to watch it, at 2:30 in this video Monica (Shaa’ir) says
Who needs nipple rings when you have Bombay duck?
Check it out below.
