Bangalore alternative act Lounge Piranha played the Hard Rock Cafe in Mumbai recently. We were there.
Notes
- Indiecision Indie of the Year ’08 nominees Lounge Piranha are infrequent visitors to Mumbai. They last played the city a year ago when a strike in the area meant very few people turned up for the gig.
- It wasn’t as if Hard Rock Cafe was packed, but there definitely were more people than the band played to last time.
- With a new bassist and a bunch of new songs, the quintet from Bangalore put on an efficient showing of their brand of pop-post-rock.
- A small contingent of hardcore LP loyalists sang most of the songs off the band’s debut album Going Nowhere back to them.
- The new material varies between peppy twee-alternative and softcore noise-rock, the latter performed without the bassist. (video soon)
- They’ve got great t-shirts.
We took a bunch of pictures at the gig. Here are a few.
