Gravy Theory Stream New Song ‘Radio’

Gravy TheoryKolkata I-Rock ’09 finalists Gravy Theory are streaming a new song on their MySpace page. The quintet lost to Bangalore metal act Inner Sanctum at the finals of I-Rock held at the Chitrakoot Grounds in Mumbai last month.

Gravy Theory’s alternative takes much from the angular affectations of early ’00s post-punk. ‘Radio’ uses many of the tricks mastered by acts like Bloc Party and Interpol, and, for much of the three minutes, does an efficient job of delivering fuzzy, rhythm heavy alt. However, as is obvious from the band’s other songs on that MySpace page, the quintet’s roots are in indulgent college-y Indian rock. When these sensibilities take control (ref: unnecessarily booming chorus), the song loses much of its initial sheen. Worth a listen though.
