Pics: Them Clones @ Hard Rock Cafe

New Delhi alternative act Them Clones brought the launch tour of their debut album Love. Hate. Heroes to Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai last month. We were there.

Notes

  1. If you’ve seen the Clones before, you know the drill – open with ‘The Bomb Song’, throw in an RATM or Blur cover, ‘Zephyretta’ near the end, close with ‘My Life’.
  2. It was surprising then that the band chose to open with the songs that didn’t make it to the final Love. Hate. Heroes CD release, including ‘In The Name of God’ and ‘Walk Away’.
  3. The remainder of the set was pretty standard, efficient Them Clones fare – offering not much new to the regulars save the poorly placed visuals (courtesy Babble Fish Productions, who also produced the video for ‘The Bomb Song’) that only the folks standing right next to the screen could watch.
  4. Frontman Prithwish Dev’s constant soliciting of the audience’s purchase of the album was a tad much; though it seemed earnest – the sign of a band wanting to earn its keep on the merit of performance and not legacy (but more on that later).
  5. The Clones need some new material soon.

We took a bunch of pictures at the gig. Here are a few.
