Dischordian is the acoustic project of Split frontman Garreth D’Mello. We caught him earlier this year as he opened for Aussie singer-songwriter Aurora Jane at the Blue Frog, and found his Nick Drake-inspired acoustic refreshing. D’Mello is now putting the finishing touches on Dischordian’s debut album, and is previewing two new songs on the band’s Facebook page.
The songs – ‘Lover’ and ‘Your Right Heel’ – feature minimal arrangements; acoustic guitars, tambourines, light percussion and a very summer-Goa vibe. ‘Your Right Heel’, with it’s horns and love-ansgty chorus (“Your right heel my love/It’s a killing machine”), has an orchestral indie pop feel that could use a few more bells and whistles, though we’re taken by the simplicity of D’Mello’s constructions.
