Delhi alternative act The Circus played Firangi Paani, Mumbai recently. The Channel V Launchpad finalists blasted through a set comprising predominantly original material, with some choice covers. We were there.
Notes
- The Circus were, for us, the big find from Channel V’s reality show Launchpad. As we mentioned earlier, “Their brand of Incubus-inspired alternative was refreshing and, with the help of an elastic bass player, made for entertaining viewing.”
- The band’s live act is highly energetic, relying heavily on the theatrics of guitar-bass duo Arsh Sharma and Abhinav Chaudhry.
- Arsh Sharma on guitar, with his Nintendo-rock sounds, is the driving force of The Circus’ angular alt.
- The weakest link at this gig was, surprisingly, vocalist Abhishek Bhatia who we could barely hear over Sharma’s din, but sounds half-decent on the band’s recorded material.
- Songs like ‘Japanese Rebellion’ and ‘Mind Therapy’ would cause mayhem at Razz.
- We’re looking forward to the band’s forthcoming debut album From Space.
We took a bunch of pictures at the gig. Here are a few.
