Indiecision’s picks of the best gigs to attend this week in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore. Gunned and rosed.
Mumbai
Uday BenegalIndia’s commercial hub is packing a great gig lineup this week.

Head to the Blue Frog on Tuesday, Sep 15 for the Naina Kundu Trio. 22 year old Kundu, who also plays with Ihi Passika, will be joined by guitar wizard Floyd Fernandes and drumming everyman Jai Row Kavi. We also have it that Warren (from Zero) may make a surprise appearance.

Wednesday’s a tough call. Zenzi Bandra will host Kolkata rock act Skinny Alley as part of Pub Rock Fest while Gadda Da Vida in Juhu hosts Uday Benegal (pictured) and Mahesh Tinaikar’s new project Whirling Kalapas as part of Rolling Stone’s Acoustic Adventures. Skinny hasn’t played Mumbai in ages and we’re expecting new arrangements from Jayashree Singh and Co. Whirling Kalapas will see the Indus Creed duo back on stage. It’s a tough call. We’ll leave that up to you.

Grand Pianoramax return to the Blue Frog, and they’re joined for their three night residency (Sep 17, 18, 19) at Lower Parel by Karsh Kale. Expect pianos, tablas, UV lights and a crowded Todi Mills. Here’s a review of their performance at the Blue Frog last year.

Join us at Zenzi Bandra on Thursday, Sep 17 for Beat Sessions where we’ll be spinning the best indie music from around the world!

New Delhi

The rest of the country does honestly pale in comparison to the live music activity that Mumbai boasts.

The Living Room Cafe has a fun lineup of events through the week and it’s a good idea to drop by Wednesday onwards.

Pizza Marzano at Vasant Kunj is also getting into the live music action. Rock act Lazy River play there Wednesday, Sep 16. Expect simple pop-rock. Entry’s free.

Sri Lankan grunge act Paranoid Earthling plays the first of its two dates in India at the Hard Rock Cafe on Thursday, Sep 17. Sample some of their tunes on the band’s MySpace.

Mocha Bar’s kicking off its ‘Acoustica Unplugged’ sets at Nehru Place. Bismarc And Friends play there this Saturday, Sep 19.

Bangalore

It’s a pretty dry gig week down south.

Most of the action’s happening Thursday (Sep 17) night. Parachute XVI play Hard Rock Cafe. The band recently released its debut EP Sodium Trail (And The Current Beantown Voice). Also on is Shillong blues-rock act Soulmate. We caught the band earlier this year when they performed in Mumbai. Soulmate play an acoustic set at Bacchus on Thursday night. Hyderabad rock trio Native Tongue play Kyra. We haven’t heard much about this band, but Kyra says they play “stage-wrecking post-punk”. So there.

Sri Lankan grunge act Paranoid Earthling plays the last of its two dates in India at Kyra on Sunday, Sep 20. Sample some of their tunes on the band’s MySpace.

These are our gig picks for the week folks. Have one.
