Miike SnowSwedish indie pop act Miike Snow has been getting a lot of indie blog buzz lately on the back off its well received eponymous debut Miike Snow. The trio from Stockholm find themselves somewhere between Passion Pit’s summery pop and Vampire Weekend’s cool emotives.

‘Burial’ is the second single from Miike Snow. Shot entirely in Varanasi (yes, that Varanasi) the video follows a local man who’s found something (the bunny-with-antlers light pictured left) in the sea and brings it back to show his fellow townspeople. It’s a loose concept held together by scenes of cow belt India; you know the deal – poor people, old people, young dancing folk.

Miike Snow isn’t the only phoren band to shoot a video in India this year. Cornershop did it for their single ‘ The Roll Off Characteristics’, shot in Ahmedabad. Playing on emotives derived from the ethnic third world cultures is an old trick, and fortunately for Miike Snow ‘Burial’ doesn’t come off as too affected.

Ironically, the song begins with the line “Sympathy is over rated”.
