It is perhaps a bit presumptous to think that one can upstage OK Go’s DIY video madness with, um, a DIY video. But for ‘Oh Lately It’s So Quiet’ one YouTube user, known to us only by his/her user ID – lolacarolina – the motivation isn’t to go one better than the alt act from Chicago or to pay tribute to them.
This stick figure drawing montage is slathered in twee goodness that’s both rather funny and terribly adorable. Like the drawing for the lyric “Whose house are you haunting tonight?” that features a girl making the ‘Thriller’ zombie pose with her arms. It’s a no-brainer video this, and though sometimes the frames stay on screen for a little too long, OK Go’s sugary pop makes up for the lag. A great balance of song and image. With stick figures.
