The SupersonicsIt’s a quiet gig week in Mumbai this.

The Supersonics (pictured) round up the Mumbai leg of their Maby Baking launch tour with a set at Landmark, Infiniti Mall in Andheri (W) at 6:30pm today (Tuesday, Sep 1). We caught the band twice last week at Hard Rock Cafe and the Blue Frog and were impressed by the improvement in the band’s sound since we last saw them nearly a year ago.

Shaa’ir + Func bring their ‘acoustica’ set to San Qi, a new gig venue at the Four Seasons hotel in Lower Parel on Friday, Sep 4. The band, who return from The Ladakh Confluence, inaugurate the Friday night gigs at San Qi where we hear the sushi is great.

Percussion maestro Trilok Gurtu plays the first of his two night residency at the Blue Frog on Sunday, Sep 6. This is a ticketed event though, so be prepared to shell out about Rs 700 for the gig.

New Delhi

Aditya Balani Group plays Mocha Bar on Wednesday, Sep 2. The project of ex-Advaita member Aditya Balani, the group comprises students from the Berklee College of Music. The band is playing only a few gigs here before they head back to Berklee, so it’s a good idea to check them out now.

Pub Rock Fest brings Sajid & The Lost Boys, Zinc and Constellation Project to Club 18 on Wednesday, Sep 2. We caught Sajid & The Lost Boys at the Blue Frog in Mumbai a couple of months ago and were reasonably impressed.

The Medicine Show hits The Royal Mirage at the Crowne Plaza on Sunday, Sep 6. We checked out the previous instalment of the show in July and were totally taken by this new addition to the capital’s live entertainment scene.

Bangalore

Bengaluru’s pimping the best gig lineup of this week.

The Supersonics take their Maby Baking tour down south with three gigs – one each at Hard Rock Cafe, Opus and, um, Big Bazaar. Check the sidebar for dates. Recommended gigs these.

The Naina Kundu Project will play Opus (Palace Cross) on Saturday, Sep 5. The jazz-blues singer-songwriter is backed by Floyd Fernandes on guitar and Jai Row Kavi (Tough On Tobacco, PDV, et al) on drums.
