Watch: ‘Outlaw’ – D-Code feat. Nerm

Shiva Soundsystem DJs D-Code and Nerm are out with a new single from the forthcoming SS compilation album Phasmatis In Machina. The frequent collaborators put their drum & bass-electro sensibilities to the test on this new track. ‘Outlaw’ brings The Prodigy-esque electropunk trappings to Nerm’s lyrics about disillusionment and capitalism, combining them to create a raucous, almost industrial soundscape of self preservation in modern society.

The video, directed by Shaft Uddin, is a low budget but well produced three and a half minutes that takes us through the day of a woman dealing with inner demons that’ve taken the form of masked and suited, post-war zombies. Just what a song like this needed. If they had a bigger budget, choreographing a zombie war dance may not have been an entirely bad idea.
