We caught singer-songwriter Nikhil D’Souza earlier this year at the Blue Frog and were reasonably impressed. At the time we said, “The trouble, and alas there always seems to some when it comes to our homegrown guys and girls with acoustic guitars, is that the acts themselves are works-in-progress, each bursting with potential but none quite there yet. D’Souza is no exception.”
The Damien Rice-David Gray inspired crooner is now out with a video for his song ‘Perfect Life’. The track is quintessential D’Souza – sappy love, acoustic guitar, and just enough violin to create that ideal puppy dog wail. The video bears the same emo as the music, featuring D’Souza in a field playing his guitar, staring into the middle distance, and with Ronan Keating-esque spinning around in a jungle thrown in for good measure. It’s well produced (Black Balloon Media) and serves our hero well in his quest to find the mushiest way into the hearts of post-James Blunt-pre-Alexi Murdoch listening women.
Also, bonus points for having the video available in HD.
