Austrian ‘vocal groove project’ Bauchklang wrapped up their mini India tour with a final night at the Blue Frog on Tuesday, July 21. The venue was packed with beatbox hungry fans eagerly waiting for the quintet to bust out some killerific vox-jams; a task they completed admirably. As Mumbai (and India) has come to expect. We were there.
Notes
- It’s going to be a while yet before India tires of Bauchklang. The Tuesday night event was attended by several folks who’d attended multiple Bauchklang gigs, and who showed no lack of enthusiasm demanding material they’d probably heard live less than a week earlier.
- No really, these guys genuinely pwn.
- A little preparation never hurt anyone, right Ila ‘Ji’ Arun?
- It’s the mark of a truly wicked live act that they can make a rubbish cameo performance by an unprepared, largely wayward guest singer sound entertaining,
- The Blue Frog pit is the best place to enjoy experience Bauchklang live.
- How popular are Bauchklang outside India?
- Some of the reworked material, including ‘Barking News’ and ‘Rhythm of Time’, holds up better than the last time we caught the act earlier this year.
- It’s likely that we’ll pay to watch them again. But give it six months Blue Frog.
We took a bunch of pics at the gig. Here are a few.
