FaridkotIt’s a quiet gig week this in Mumbai.

Kick off your Tuesday with Something Relevant at Hard Rock Cafe. The jam collective have been gigging regularly in the city, and promise new material at this gig. Check out pics and notes from their gig at the Blue Frog last month.

Head to the Blue Frog on Thursday, July 30 for Pune alternative act Indian Breeves. We’ve honestly never heard of this band before and they don’t have a MySpace or anything, so we’re just excited to find out more about this Indian band of mystery.

If new music discovery is not your thing, head to Hard Rock Cafe for the first Battle of the Bands at the venue. Trivandrum rock act Aum take on Mumbai band Zedde as the bands play both sides of HRC’s confines. This format could either be terribly fun, or terribly jarring. Either way, a fun Thursday night.

New Delhi

Pub Rock Fest 2009 kicks off this week, so the capital will finally have some worthy gig-age over the next month or so.

Before that though, head to Mocha Bar on Wednesday, July 29 for alternative act The Circus. The Channel V Launchpad finalists are currently recording their debut album (on Grey & Saurian).

Head back to Mocha Bar on Saturday, Aug 1 to kick off Pub Rock Fest with Galeej Gurus, October and Lazy River. Bangalore’s Galeej Gurus don’t play the capital very often so this is a good chance to check out their brand of alternative.

The Mezz features a metal feast on Sunday, Aug 2 as Scribe, Undying Inc, Artillerie and Rabbit Is Rich take stage (also as part of Pub Rock Fest). Scribe recently played the first (and last?) MySpace Secret Show in Mumbai with Motherjane. We were there.

Bangalore

Singer-songwriter Lionnel Mascarenhas plays two gigs in Bangalore this week. On Wednesday, July 29 he hits Kyra and then on Thursday, Hard Rock Cafe. Download ‘Get Up Now’ from his debut album Wonderland.

Chennai rock act Little Babooshka’s Grind play Kyra on Friday, July 31. We haven’t heard much from the band for a very long time, and they don’t seem intent on letting us know either.

Channel V Launchpad finalists Faridkot play Kyra on Saturday night. Head there for some emo-tinged Hindi-rock.

These are our gig picks for the week folks. Have one.
