Da SazAll’s been quiet on the Da-Saz front since the release of their debut album Jet Lag in May last year; a fact that’s largely disappointing given that they were one of our picks for Most Promising Indie ’08. The multi-regional, multi-instrumental quartet has been off the Indian indie radar for a while, resurfacing only to play the occassional gig. What’s up Da-Saz?

‘Fire Bon’ is an older Da-Saz track released as part of the Sahi Bol compilation. It’s minimal, fusion-y electronica in the vein of early MIDIval PunditZ, with a smattering of Nitin Sawhney-esque synth-pop. The Delhi Sultanate-ish vocal on the track gives largely facile commentary on the Indian socio-political scene, but is helped by the restrained desi instrumentation which complements the baritone particularly well.
