PINKNOISE, the project of Skinny Alley protagonists Jayashree Singh and Gyan Singh, with son Jivraj on drums and close friend Amyt Datta on guitars, played the Blue Frog on Wednesday, July 1. The rain stayed away at the ‘tribute to Pink Floyd’, attended by the cream of Mumbai’s Floyd fans, and others. We were there as well.

Notes

  1. It’s PINKNOISE. Not Pink Noise, or pinknoise, or Pink noise. Everyone from Blue Frog to the publications that listed the gig to the peeps who Tweeted  about it got is wrong.
  2. “If my voice sounds gravel-ly, it’s not because I’m trying to sound sexy”. Imagine your mom saying that. While you’re playing the drums. On the same stage as she is.
  3. The concept of the angular-alternative, Punjabi family band from Kolkata is irresistable.
  4. Jivraj Singh (drums) has got to be one of the top young drummers in the country today.
  5. The folks who turned up to watch Pink Floyd covers were not happy.
  6. One reason for their displeasure was the extended jams during some of the songs. We sympathised. A little.
  7. ‘Dream Dream’ was sorely missed.

Vikas Munipalle took these ace pics for us.
