Indiecision’s picks of the best gigs to attend this week in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore. Shaken and stirred.
Mumbai
You know you’ve got a good gig week when your Thursday night gives you six gig options.
Kick off your gig week with Austrian beatboxing group Bauchklang at the Blue Frog on Wednesday, July 15. The Indiecision Best Gig International ’08 winners begin a short tour supporting the launch of their new live album Live in Mumbai. Tickets for the gig are pretty steep though – Rs 700 standing, Rs 1,000 sitting – which is an entire bummer, in addition to the fact that this gig is on a weekday.
Nikhil D’Souza returns to the Blue Frog on Thursday, July 16. The singer-songwriter played the venue last month and we were there with a camera and plenty of Damien Rice references.
If you were never really taken by that whole moody loner with an acoustic guitar vibe, head to Zenzi (Bandra) instead on Thursday night for jam band Something Relevant. We caught them at the Blue Frog last month.
New Delhi
The capital’s dearth of daily gigs must be cause for concern for gig fans in the city. This week is no different.
Half Step Down continue their weekly residency at Attitude with a Pearl Jam tribute on Thursday, July 16.
Delhi finally gets a Bauchklang gig on Saturday, July 18. The Austrian vocal groove project hit Elevate on Saturday night for what is sure to be a packed gig.
Bangalore
South side’s got a whole bunch of electronica hitting its rain swept shores this week.
First up, we have Bauchklang taking their tour to Hard Rock Cafe on Thursday (July 16) night.
Kick off your Sunday (July 19) with the I Love Music Festival at Pebbles which will see seven DJs play the venue over the course of the afternoon. Names include Karan Bhoj and DJ Clement. Close your Sunday evening with Galeej Gurus at Kyra!
These are our gig picks for the week folks. Have one.
