Lyrical pop duo Sridhar/Thayil played the Blue Frog on Wednesday, June 24. They played a full set of material from a promised debut album and were joined on stage by Grandmaster Jo (tables), Amit Ahuja (bass) and Siddharth V (violin). We were there for the *slight creepyness* show performance.
Notes
- Clubs suit S/T far better than outdoors. We last caught them at the Kala Ghoda Festival, and the details were lost in the atmosphere.
- Their music continues to evolve. Some songs have benfitted greatly with the addition of live bass and strings.
- Suman Sridhar gets into the zone, and then can creep you out. A little.
- Both the protagonists take their performance as seriously as the venue/crowd will allow; something more acts need to keep in mind. Indian audiences are fickle and largely ignorant of your craft.
- There is a thin line between kitsch and ostentation, and S/T have firmly stamped their foot on the right side.
We took a bunch of pictures. Here are a few.
