Indo-Brit bass-tronic artist Shri played the Blue Frog on Thursday June 18. It was the venue’s 500th gig; a free entry affair that wasn’t as packed as we expected. And not as exciting either.
Notes
- DJ Badmarsh’s opening 30 minute DJ set was abstract, disjointed, and terribly boring
- Shrikanth Sriram plays the bass well, also the flute, and assorted electronic devices
- Vishal Dadlani singing with lyrics sheet in hand < Vishal Dadlani singing without paper
- The Brit dude beatboxing and doing unscripted spoken word pieces was fun, but looked like a Tamilian bus conductor replete with sweaty towel over shoulder
- Nandini Srikar has become the go-to ‘Indian’ vocalist of choice for international acts playing at the Blue Frog
- This was the first Shri gig we checked out, and we still could tell that this wasn’t one of his best
We took a bunch of pictures at the gig. Here are a few.
