Watch: ‘Syncing Together’ – Smoke

Smoke is the project of Blue Frog co-owners Ashutosh Phatak and Dhruv Ghanekar. They released their debut album Smoke Signals last year where they debuted the video for their single ‘Summertime Rocks’ (featuring Kailash Kher). Since then, the Blue Frog Records artists’ videography has been decidedly more DIY. Videos for Ashutosh Phatak’s singles ‘Eons’ and ‘Fix Me’ featured lower production values and higher usage of in-built Mac video editing software.

‘Syncing Together’ follows the same trend. The song itself is largely nondescript electronica – like music for a Casio digital watch commercial, featuring generous auto-tune. The video features high contrast footage of the band performing live with East India Company frontman and frequent MIDIval PunditZ collaborator Papon. This is interspersed with abstract high contrast footage of the inside of a car, and other randomness. Definitely not their most creative work.
