Watch: ‘Out The Airlock’ – Paul Dempsey

One of my favourite bands from Australia is indie rock trio Something For Kate. Over the last decade they’ve consistenly delivered quality records that are immediately memorable and rewarding. Their album Echolalia (Murmur, 2001) is a stellar work featuring lead singer Paul Dempsey’s crisp writing and guitar work.

Dempsey is now gearing up for the release of his new solo album titled Everything Is True (set to drop August 14). ‘Out The Airlock’ is the first single from said album. It’s a sweet, anti-love ditty that in some weird way reminds me of ‘You Only Hide’, even though the latter is far more straight-forward-love. The video features a ginormous toy train set and one of the best love song lines of the year – “My sweetheart dreams of revenge”.
