Shaa’ir + Func Preview New Songs

Monica DograShaa’ir + Func are terribly prolific. And relative to the procrastination of the Indian indie scene, just monstrous. It took them two years to dish out two top albums, and, if their MySpace is to be believed, they’ll have another one out after the rains this year.

The band is previewing between eight and ten new songs on their MySpace, many of which they performed at a recent gig at the Hard Rock Cafe (video soon). According to the band

WE ARE CURRENTLY MIXING THE ALBUM, BUT WANTED YOU TO HEAR SOME OF THE SONGS RAW AND THROUGH THE MANY STAGES OF THE PROCESS. EVERY WEEK WE WILL KEEP UPDATING YOU WITH FRESH CHANGES IN THE MIXES AND PRODUCTION TILL WE FINALLY RELEASE THE ALBUM SOMEWHERE AFTER THE MONSOONS.

The songs include

‘Everytime You’re Around’
‘Freeze You’
‘Goodbye Cruel World’
‘Love Love Love’
‘My Roots’
‘Sexy Scam’
‘Take It Personally’
‘There Are So Many Answers’
‘Trouble’
‘We’re Not Alone’

Check out the songs here. Musically, in their current state, the songs tread familiar S+F territory – electro-rock kitsch with Monica Dogra’s world weary throw downs. We’re staying tuned in. Current picks – ‘Take It Personally’ (their strongest deviation yet), ‘Goodbye Cruel World’.
