With Slumdog Millionaire winning pretty much every award it is nominated for, and AR Rahman now living the Indian music dream, any recognition another Indian artist receives is pretty much guaranteed not to be in the national limelight. Which is why Zakir Hussain’s Grammy for his work on the Global Drum Project with Mickey Hart, Sikiru Adepoju and Giovanni Hidalgo will be forgotten far sooner than Rahman’s BAFTA.
Hussain won the award in the Contemporary World Music Album category at an event that saw blink-182 announce their reunion.
