Sidd Coutto Gets Cheeky With DNA, DNA Doesn’t Get It
Sidd Coutto‘s new project Tough On Tobacco is perhaps a bit misunderstood. To a large extent, this has to do with the band’s name. And to some extent, it has to do with Coutto taking ill-informed journalists for a ride.
In an interview with DNA, Coutto told the paper that Tough on Tobacco was releasing an album (in March) with an anti-smoking theme. He went on to say
I and most of my band members have been hooked to smoking for quite some time now and can’t seem to get over it. So this is our effort to tell the youngsters that they should not start smoking because once they make it a habit, they will be trapped forever.
The Zero drummer was in full form and the paper even printed that “the songs also oppose drunk driving and urges one to stay positive when feeling low.” When asked about Bollywood music, Coutto said
English rules the world, but I think Hindi has a very big connect in India. I don’t know Hindi, but why should I limit myself to English if there are so many good opportunities.
Mega.
On his MySpace, Coutto explains
Hi. I’m Sidd. I love music. I love humour. When you put together these exquisite passions, you pretty much end up with nothing useful, unless youâ??re Weird Al. Luckily, I write songs, sing, drum, play guitar*, program** and produce music too.
Tough on Tobacco play a gig tonight at Bonobo, Bandra for the Mumbai launch of Baajaa Gaajaa. Zero will also play a short set. Somebody create a list of Related Acts on the Zero Wikipedia page.
