Perhaps it was the gaping hole in the Mumbai rock scene. Perhaps it was the effort of Vishal Dadlani. Perhaps it was the need for another act to join Alisha Batth and Anushka Manchanda (among others) on stage at the Mumbai press conference for Baajaa Gaajaa. Or perhaps it was some other reason altogether. Zero will perform again at Bonobo on Jan 24, Saturday night.
The band that played what was considered its final gig at I-Rock in September last year, will take the stage at the Mumbai launch of ‘Baajaa Gaajaa: Music from 21st Century India’. The event will take place at Bonobo in Bandra tomorrow night and will see performances by Anushka Manchanda, Naresh & Paresh Kamat, Ankur Tiwari, Alisha Batth, Tough on Tobacco and Zero.
Tough on Tobacco is the project of Zero drummer Sidd Coutto, who will also take up vocal duties for Zero in the absence of original vocalist Rajeev Talwar. I cannot remember a Zero gig I have attended where Rajeev was not on vocals. Coutto displayed his vocal proficiency with his other band project Helga’s Fun Castle. How will he fare as a replacement for Rajeev? Will Zero still pwn? Who is Ankur Tiwari? All these questions, except the one about Ankur Tiwari – he “has directed music videos for artists like Kailash Kher, Sona Family and Yana among others” and will be releasing his debut album Hum in 2009, will be answered in our gig review on Sunday.
So tune in. Same time. Same channel. Same Zero?
