We have never, since the time the folks at Blue Frog opened their lovely music venue, had to wait outside for entry to the club. With the new metal detector and (extra careful) frisking system that’s been introduced since November, getting through is even slower. It didn’t help that over 500 peeps wanted to get in on Friday night; the most packed we have ever seen the Frog.
Best Gig International winners at The Indiecision ’08, Bauchklang hit the Blue Frog for three back-to-back nights of vocal groove that saw a claimed 2,159 people show up at Lower Parel.

The last time Austrian beatboxing act Bauchklang came to the Blue Frog we were immediately impressed by their ability to turn something that’s essentially a novelty into a rewarding live music experience. Perhaps it was the fact that this time ’round we weren’t in the moshpit, or that with the venue stuffed there was precious little purchase when it came to movement, or that we’d already seen the act throw down their best, but this time, there wasn’t as bright a spark as we saw last February.
The moves were there, and pretty much the same tunes as well, but the impact of the product wasn’t as hard as we’d hoped. The band did play some new material from a promised new album, but the act was pretty much the same. It was consistent and entertaining, but didn’t blow us away.
The set included most of the stuff we’d seen them play last year (‘Roxanne’ cover included). The crowd loved every minute of it. We got our money’s worth (except the Groovebox who bought a Rs 600 burger that came with precisely four potato wedges), nothing more nothing less.
