India’s favourite indie band related music based reality show is back. Channel V brings us the third edition of Launchpad, this time around with Vishal Dadlani (of Pentagram) as the sole permanent judge. The last edition of the show was tres controversial with the judges and the bands not seeing eye-to-eye on several occassions, making for some great reality TV.
At the outset, Channel V seems to be looking for regional language bands. In a press release, Sheetal Sudhir, Channel V’s creative director was quoted saying
Launch Pad this year is extra special for us. Weâ??re cranking it up a notch to celebrate and recognize Indian rock music in its rawest form, language no more being a constraint. Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi all are invited. Weâ??re tapping into the heart and soul of our Desi rockers and searching for a revolutionary new sound that needs to be heard and [v]â??re all ears!
They’ve got two promo videos to prove it – one with a Hindi version of Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ and the other with a Bengali version of Nirvana’s ‘Come As You Are’; both with lyrics promoting the show.
The best Launchpad III promo video award though has to go to the one with Vishal Dadlani (hit ‘More’ to watch) in it, where the Pentagram frontman opens with the leading contender for TV Line of the Year
Two words. Launch Pad. Two more words. Vishal Dadlani. In other words *beep*
Just. So. Good. More Launchpad.
