Sony MicroVault

Sony’s MicroVault Click concept is simple – one music album, specifically the 25th anniversary edition of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, on a 2GB thumb drive for $20. Simple of course does not mean effective. The music-on-thumb-drives strategy have been used by everyone from record labels to hardware manufacturers to The White Stripes. And apart from the dudes who picked up the limited edition Icky Thump drives, nobody else has been excited about this format of music delivery. With a $20 price tag, it’s unlikely many peeps (even hardcore Michael Jackson fans) will be excited about this.

Plus, for $15 you can pick up a SlotMusic microSD drive that fits right into your phone. Physical delivery of music needs more than an overpriced thumb drive and a mix of ‘Beat It’ with Fergie to shake things up.
