The Indiecision â??08 is a recap of the year gone by in Indian indie and a recognition of the work of its artists and those involved with the creation and promotion of the music. Over the month of December, your favourite Indian indie blog will feature bests and worsts of all things Indian indie.
Worst Gig

The Worst Gig was the worst live performance by an artist at a venue in the city of Mumbai. The nominees for the Worst Gig are

Saif Ali KhanSaif Ali Khan w/Parikrama, MMRDA Grounds

The Rock On For Humanity gig at the MMRDA Grounds in Bandra brought together some of the biggest acts in Indian independent music. Somewhere near the end of the concert, Parikrama took stage for a short set of the same material they’ve had on their playlist for much of the last decade. To further confound matters, Saif Ali Khan joined them on stage for a few covers. Though it must be said that Ali Khan can, in fact, play the guitar, it must also be said that at Rock On For Humanity, his presence brought down the quality of Parikrama’s set (yes, such a thing is possible) a further notch.

Hit â??Moreâ?? for the rest of the nominees and the Worst Gig â??08.

RadiusRadius, Hard Rock Cafe

Delhi band Radius promised much – the dude from (the erstwhile) Metakix on guitar, a vocalist who has a Hindi music album to his credit, and a rapper. Indiecision said of their set, “Mostly, the band sounded like â??90s alternative, with frequent and noticeable errors.” The band battled sound problems and lost in a mess of mistimed notes and an MC who could only be heard saying “Mumbai!” and “Yeah! Yeah!” every few minutes.

Mungolian Jet SetMungolian Jet Set, Blue Frog
Blue Frog‘s efficient mailing system informed of Mungolian Jet Set, ‘Scandinavian dancedelic disco-luuv art rock’. Unfortunately, what we got was, ‘two retired Scandinavian truckers who smoked too much and fiddled with pretty knobs on the pretty turntable’. If you were at Blue Frog that fateful April night, you may have forgiven yourself for drowning your sorrow in a pool of overpriced calamari and vodka-Sprites.

And the Worst Gig ’08 was

Mungolian Jet Set at the Blue Frog; Nickelback never sounded as good as after this set.
