Indo-European act Da-Saz, burst onto our collective spotlights only about a few days ago. They played at the YouTube India launch and are currently featured on the Indian homepage of the video aggregator. Today’s Express features a chat with the band who’ve released their album Jet Lag with Phat Phish Records (the same guys who brought us Rabbi and Avial).

The band features a Russian violinist, a Swiss keyboard player, a French saxophonist and an Indian drummer. And they all apparently have a liking of Arabic music. With this introduction behind us, the band explains

“We are not trying to be different, not trying to make trends, not trying to break trends”

Sure, multi-ethnic Arabic music bands are all the rage these days.

Da-Saz play at Blue Frog tomorrow night.
