Popular India Media Reports New Rockstar, Parikrama Gets Another Concert

It’s become increasingly easy to get yourself photographed with a guitar, stand in front of a microphone and have the media shout “Next Bollywood rockstar!” as the backing track you were syncing to skips and you don’t care if anybody noticed cos your name ends in Ali Khan. Sanjay Dutt is the newest Bollywood star to be christened with the media friendly genre of our Times. The Bombay Times plastered his mug on the front page. He is photographed holding a particularly glam metal-ish guitar wearing a jacket that was once the dead spawn of a tiger and a sea lion.

Let it be known that Saif Ali Khan is not the undisputed rockstar of Bollywood. Thereâ??s another actor who can strum the guitar and play the drums with as much familiarity as Eric Clapton and Ringo Starr respectively. And thatâ??s our very own Munnabhai, Sanjay Dutt, who reportedly was voted as a terrific â??Air Guitarâ?? player in the US once.

Duttâ??s passion for rock music, also heavy metal and jazz, led to his doing a music video for Hansal Mehtaâ??s Woodstock Villa starring newcomers Sikandar and Neha. Dressed in a longflowing coat, holding a star-shaped, blue flame top Washburn Dime electric guitar, Sanju rocked and how. Those who saw him hit the chords, knew they were watching a rock music freak in action.
   â?? Kyun is a song composed by the Aryans and when Sanju heard it, he liked it instantly. Itâ??s the first rock video in a Hindi film,â? says filmmaker Hansal. â??I couldnâ??t picture anybody else doing this song. Sanju is a real rockstar. He has strummed the guitar as well as played the drums in this video and is so natural with the chords and notes,â? adds Hansal, who canâ??t stop praising the multi-talented actor.
   The video was shot before the actor could tie the knot with Manyata. â??Sanjay Gupta shot the song which has tremendous energy and style. They bonded well because both have similar music tastes,â? reveals Hansal. The video appears at a crucial time in the film. â??Itâ??s not an item number and doesnâ??t appear when the filmâ??s credits roll at the end,â? informs the filmmaker, so as to not disappoint Duttâ??s fans. The actorâ??s heavy metal look in this video was designed with Guptaâ??s help. â??He can carry off the look because Sanju is a real rockstar,â? says Hansal.
