Anoushka Shankar
Bio
Anoushka Shankar is a sitar player and composer, deeply rooted in classical music and has been performing since 1994. She is the daughter of Pt. Ravi Shankar and has studied music extensively under his guidance since she was nine. She has released four studio albums and one live album, her latest release being a collaboration with Karsh Kale called Breathing Under Water (2007). She has authored a book, acted in a film (Dance Like A Man), been Grammy nominated, and is the first Indian ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme. Her earlier recordings were made by her as a classical sitar player, and on her fourth album she composed, arranged and produced her own music.
